Our Story

Wild Society began in 2019 as a conversation between friends around a campfire in the Sierra Nevada. We were environmental journalists, scientists, and outdoor enthusiasts frustrated by the gap between the urgent environmental stories being told and the people who needed to hear them.

We believed there was an audience hungry for thoughtful, solutions-focused environmental journalism—stories that didn't just document problems but explored the innovative ways people were addressing them. Stories that celebrated the beauty and resilience of the natural world while confronting the challenges we face.

What started as a small newsletter has grown into an independent digital publication reaching readers in over 120 countries. We cover the full spectrum of sustainability—from climate science and conservation to outdoor culture, wellness, and the future of how we live on this planet.

We remain fiercely independent, reader-supported, and committed to the belief that great journalism can inspire meaningful change. Every story we publish is driven by curiosity, rigorous reporting, and a deep respect for both our readers and the natural world we're all part of.
